Sybil Spink retired from the post of Secretary from the Ilford and District Diabetes UK Group after 30 years service. Members of the Committee agreed that Sybil has been a key person in building up the group into such a successful community organisation, advocating diabetes awareness, fund raising for diabetic research and encouraging many to join the group to gain knowledge about the condition.
Representatives from the main charity Diabetes UK thanked Sybil and the group presented her with a floral arrangement and Gardening token. The President Dr Tahseen Chowdhury MD FRCP acknowledged the hard work that Sybil had done and hoped that she would remain within the group to support others. Sybil replied that she was withdrawing from some of the administrative duties but was to continue with arranging holidays and outings. Sybil hoped that more diabetics would join the meetings at Valentines Mansion, the first Tuesday evening of each month at 7.45p.m.
